TuffLuk The Numbers' Game

How many teenagers leave school without having fully mastered times tables or able to do simple addition such as 15 + 25 or subtraction such as 28 - 16. These kids would be heavily relying on calculators for simple operations such as 10 x 5 - 4 or 25 x 4 + 5.

The ability of children to perform in the area of math at primary level hinges on their knowledge of their Times Tables. With children’s concentration span varying between 15 and 20 minutes particularly for math, most teachers are reluctant to further aggravate the situation by burdening them with additional work. Besides, with various other activities that form part of the curriculum, they hardly have any time left for additional math work. One knows that ‘practice makes perfect’.  In the long run lack of practice of what children learn in the classroom leaves them with an inability to understand numbers, as a result they can nurture a feeling of inadequacy which leave them utterly frustrated and struggling with basic mathematics.

Learning should be a lifelong, exciting experience that opens new opportunities for anyone as new insights and skills are acquired. Mathematics may be perceived as a difficult subject to learn.  Learning should be made exciting and attractive at an early age to avoid children associate negatively with learning mathematics. With this in mind, this challenging game was put together.

TuffLuk teaches the basics and provides progressive learning for building skills.  It is compelling and concise. It encourages independent discovery and a complete and logical overview of the logistics of math. It is especially useful because it does not require any language skills and stimulates discovery and learning at the individual's own pace.

Besides being an excellent game suitable for players of all walks of life, TuffLuk can also be a crucial tool for parents when used as an excuse to get more involved in their children's learning process.  Parents who challenge their children to a game of TuffLuk can be pleasantly surprised. It doesn't take long for a child in turn, to challenge parents which, is precisely the purpose of the game.

TuffLuk can be played by adults for leisure or as a 'brain teaser' in order to maintain a lucid and healthy mind.
